Ingredients of Rishna's Kheema

  1. Prepare 250 g of minced lamb / beef or combination of both.
  2. It's 2 of potatoes.
  3. It's 1 bag of spinach.
  4. Prepare 1 can of chopped tomatoes or 2 finely chopped fresh tomato.
  5. It's 1 of finely chopped white onion.
  6. It's 1 tbsp of ginger and garlic paste (or 2 garlic cloves and a bit of ginger blitzed).
  7. You need 1 of green chilli finely chopped (or blitzed with the garlic and ginger).
  8. You need 1 tbsp of tomato puree.
  9. Prepare 1 of cinnamon stick.
  10. Prepare 2 of whole cloves.
  11. Prepare 1 of bay leaf.
  12. You need 1 tsp of turmeric.
  13. You need 1 tsp of curry powder.
  14. It's 0.5 tsp of chilli powder.
  15. You need 1 tsp of garam masala.
  16. Prepare of Salt to taste.
  17. You need of Some oil to fry.
  18. You need of Chopped coriander to serve.

Rishna's Kheema step by step

  1. Heat some oil in pad with a lid and fry the dry ingredients (cloves, cinnamon stick, bay leaf) for 1 minute.
  2. Add the chopped onion and stir for 30 seconds.
  3. Add the ginger, garlic and green chilli and sauté on a low heat until the onions start to soften.
  4. Add the chilli powder, curry powder, turmeric, garam masala and a generous pinch of salt and sauté for a few more minutes.
  5. Add the meat and stir for 2 minutes.
  6. Dice the potatoes and add to the pan.
  7. Add the tomatoes, tomato puree and enough water to just cover the meat.
  8. Cover and cook on a low heat for 15 to 20 minutes.
  9. Add the spinach and stir through until wilted.
  10. Check the meat is cooked and add salt if required. If there's still excess water, uncover and the boil water off.
